Embark
Embark is a Canadian education savings and investment platform managing $6B+ in assets. I designed across both its public and authenticated digital ecosystem, shaping experiences from acquisition and discovery through account servicing and ongoing customer journeys in a highly regulated financial environment.

Context
Embark supports families across a broad financial journey—from learning about education savings and entering the product ecosystem to managing existing accounts and keeping important financial information up to date.
My work spanned both public-facing and authenticated experiences, where each initiative needed to balance customer clarity with business goals, regulatory requirements, existing product patterns, and technical constraints.

Goal
The goal was to make complex financial journeys easier to understand and act on while creating experiences that could scale consistently across different parts of the ecosystem.
This meant reducing unnecessary friction, establishing clear interaction patterns, and balancing growth and servicing needs with the requirements of a regulated financial product.

Solution
I worked across public and authenticated experiences, translating complex product, compliance, business, and technical requirements into clear flows and responsive interfaces.
I used existing design-system patterns where possible and introduced or refined reusable UX patterns as new needs emerged.
• Acquisition & Growth — Public-facing, referral, campaign, and partner experiences supporting customer acquisition across Embark’s digital ecosystem.
• Discovery & Decision Support — Structured experiences using clear hierarchy, filtering, and guided interactions to simplify complex information.
• Authenticated & Regulated Experiences — Account-servicing and compliance-driven journeys balancing conditional logic and regulatory requirements with clarity and usability.

Impact
• Created clearer interaction models for complex and compliance-sensitive customer journeys across public and authenticated experiences.
• Strengthened consistency by applying and extending reusable design-system patterns across different product surfaces.
• Balanced customer, regulatory, growth, and technical requirements within a unified product-design approach.
• Delivered implementation-ready flows, prototypes, states, and specifications that supported cross-functional alignment and development.
The result was a more cohesive experience across Embark’s customer lifecycle, with scalable design patterns that could support both evolving product requirements and ongoing business initiatives.
